Cognitive Assessment

Cognitive testing checks for problems with cognition. Cognition is a combination of processes in your brain that's involved in almost every aspect of your life. It includes thinking, memory, language, judgment, and the ability to learn new things.

A problem with cognition is called cognitive impairment. The condition ranges from mild to severe.

Cognitive impairment can occur as a result of an acquired brain injury or other neurological

impairment. Even a mild cognitive impairment can have a substantial impact on a persons work abilities and that defining and understanding the impairment and its impact in the workplace can ensure realistic rehab and RTW goals are set and appropriate adjustments are explored.

Job Demand Assessment

A job demands assessment is undertaken through an onsite assessment to observe how a specific job is done at a workplace this can be completed with or without the clients presence.

The essential and non-essential job components

are identified to determine the essential skills and abilities an employee requires to successfully do the job. The physical, cognitive, psychosocial and behavioural demands of the job are identified as part of this assessment.

A job demands assessment is used to gain an objective and clear list of the job demands, which can then be used to determine if an employee has the skills and abilities to complete these demands. This type of assessment is helpful in determining what an employee will need to focus on in their rehabilitation to build their capacity to meet the specific job demands.

A job demands assessment can also be an important component of an overall assessment to determine an employee’s fitness to return to a specific role.

Transferrable Skills Analysis

This is a systematic process of identifying an individual's work abilities or traits through a detailed analysis of their vocational history, education and medical information.

Workability Assessments

During a Workability Assessment the evaluator will observe and measure job demands, often in the workplace, and match these against the clients abilities and limitations.

This assessment is most useful where a client has an existing job role to return to or would like to explore suitability for an identified alternative role with their employer.

A workability assessment can also incorporate suggestions for work modification and adjustments, further work focused rehabilitation and return to work planning if required.
